Collet Nut Torque Accurate collet nut torque is essential to the proper operation of a CNC machine. A torque wrench is the only way to ensure that the proper torque value is applied. Over-tightening a collet nut will cause distortion and under-tightening will lead to tool slippage. These conditions will produce tool runout, tool wear, tool breakage and finish degradation. Torque wrenches should only be used to tighten and never to loosen.
