Accurate collet nut torque is essential to the proper operation of a CNC machine. A torque wrench is the only way to ensure that the proper torque value is applied. Over-tightening a collet nut will cause distortion and under-tightening will lead to tool slippage. These conditions will produce tool run-out, tool wear, tool breakage and finish degradation. Torque wrenches should only be used to tighten and never to loosen.
